Autumn on the march

Jan & Drake’s house is set in some land.  There’s woodland, a creek, a bit of natural prairie, and of course a lovely big lawn and garden.  Set as it is in the middle of hundreds upon hundreds of miles of industrial agriculture, it’s a bit of a haven for all kinds of local wildlife;  and it’s one of the lovely, lazy things about trips down here is that you can watch them all from the comfort of your armchair …

Above:  wild turkeys (of which there’s a flock of over 30).  Below, a couple of the deer I spotted when I was briefly here last week. See this earlier post for a reminder of a more magical, summer sighting.   Alas, as you can see from the bottom picture, serious autumn – finally – is on the march …
